What are the consequences of small towns ignoring the theme? |
Loss of town centre activity can have a number of consequences:
- Reduced sense of community within the town, due to the varied lifestyle experiences of each resident;
- Increased anti-social behaviour;
- Reduced sense of safety and inclusiveness within the town;
- Reduced potential for economic growth through locally-based opportunities; or
- Reduced potential to attract tourists.
- Reduced investment.
If gone unchecked for too long, these can accumulate into the need for complete regeneration of the town centre. This can be avoided by implementing high-quality TCM projects.
