What we recommend |
Transport and infrastructure investment in small towns should be directed by careful long-term planning. It is important to consider the levels of mobility required by local residents and visitors (see ‘Tourism’ component). Practitioners should understand the true social, economic and environmental impacts of transport investment on the wider community (see ‘Jobs and Employment’ component). They should work with residents to understand the limitations of transport. This will help to identify transport design principles that will work to shape the quality of new developments.
