Why is this theme important to small towns? |
Small expanding towns will need to accommodate new residential areas to house their growing population. Housing in small towns needs to fulfil the needs of both present and future residents. This means providing good quality, affordable housing, either by renovating existing buildings or developing new dwellings. New housing in small towns will have a much more significant impact than it would in larger urban areas. Often residential areas are developed in large-scale projects. This can result in very rapid growth within the town in terms of both size and location (see ‘Transport and Infrastructure’ and ‘Natural Heritage’ components).
